#0007 - Colormander
The Colormander was an idea I had that ties right into the "Palette-Swapping" I talked about in #0002 - Cawith. I thought, what if there was a creature that's sole purpose was to change the palette of a monster to the "Different Versions" of itself. Most creatures down by the beach would be have tan sand or blue ocean color themes going on. But if a "Chromatic" creature like the Colormander was around, it might change them to a red or black palette like seen in the Cinder Thicket.
This one is certainly a favorite of mine. A chaotic painter going around adding it's own artistic touch to the world around it.
Oh, and you better believe there will be more amazing paint puns around the corner with the other Chromatic creatures I have planned.
Bestiary Description:
Using the pads of it's feet to absorb tiny amounts of pigments from the surfaces it traverses, the Colormander can focus those colors into the tip of its tail. With a simple flick, it can actually alter the very genetic make up of creatures it paints.
Painting a Gray Stone Giant Green will turn it into an Emerald Giant. These color-changing effects will revert back to normal, though the time it takes various from species to species. Research is still being done on how this phenomenon takes place, but with what we do know, if you see elemental creatures that don't fit their environment, you can bet a Colormander isn't too far away.
