#0014 & #0015 - Hindo & Abetto

Hindo & Abetto are a concept I like; two creatures that help one another in a perfect symbiotic relationship. Hindo is powerful, impulsive and doesn't much like living things that encroach on its territory. Its sinewy arms are strong enough to crack granite in a single punch.
The Abetto on the other hand is rather frail but highly intelligent. When it zips itself onto a Hindo, I acts as an intelligent suit of armor. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Hindos' name come from 'Hinder', as he is a pretty beefy obstacle. The Abetto gets its name from 'Abetting'. As in, it is there to facilitate and help the Hindo accomplish its goals of smashing things, but helping it do so in a smart way.

Bestiary Description:
A regular dynamic duo, Hindos and Abettos are rarely seen unzipped from each other. Hindos are almost pure muscle and don't have a whole lot going on upstairs. Their main impulse is to crush things under their powerful mitts. With no epidermal layer however, they are quite vulnerable.
Abettos are rather ill suited for combat as their limbs are hollow, like empty sleeves. Abettos skin is made from a bizarre rubbery material and is virtually waterproof and is also resistant to electricity.
When conjoined together, they make up for each others shortcomings and become a powerful entity best left avoided.

#0013 - Constance LeDuc, Founder of Chuckle House - The Guild of Fools

I was a fan of Magic: The Gathering when I was younger and really liked the Ravnica set. It was all centered around the Various guilds that relied on two types of colored Mana.
I kinda wanted something like that in my fantasy world. There are many types of magic and potion making and one skill may help you in another field.

The skills learned at Chuckle House are much more than acting and common tomfoolery. Prestidigitation, Teleportation, Transmogrification, Levitation, Gigantification, Influencing Incantations and a host of other skills (that may or may not end with 'ation'), will help pupils fool those who let their guard down with ease.

"Les opportunités se jettent aux pieds de ceux qui maîtrisent l'art de agissant le fou."

-Constance LeDuc

#0012 - Grub Woorm

Now this one takes me back. This creature was inspired by a specific type of monster from the Playstation 1 title "Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu". This game was hugely influential on my love of mashing monsters together to come up with hybrids and various elemental changes.

These Snake-Like minions were always my favorite (mostly the weird teeth it has), so I added teeth like those to my Grub Woorm.

In honor of Jade Cocoon, I made the Color varients match those found in the game; Water, Fire, Earth and Air.

Bestiary Description:
These massive grubs are just about the last thing you want near your garden...or within 10 miles of you. Although they are virtually blind, these monstrous larvae have no issue finding vegetation and will gnaw on just about any sort of plant matter, but aren't opposed to taking a bite out of anything that gets too close to its mandibles.

#0011 - Lorma

The Lorma took quite a design shift from my original drawings from 9 years ago. They were called the Laybu back then and had a much more cartooney look to them. Short, stunted arms and legs, as well as a goofy looking nose.
Needless to say, I am much happier with this result. I changed the name from Laybu because I thought it was just a little too obvious that it was simply "Ladybug" with the 'D' and 'G' missing.
As a sidenote to that; doing a little research I found that scientists refer to them as Ladybird Beetles as 'Ladybugs' aren't technically bugs. The more you know...or something.

I based the colors for the Lorma on those that occur naturally in real world Ladybirds/Ladybugs.

Bestiary Description:
Not only are Lorma swift and agile, but have a high endurance for extended flights. They can fly almost 1,100 meters into the sky before the air becomes to thin for them to breathe.
They can keep pace with even the fastest purebred Racehorses and can lift almost 50 times their own weight.
They have adapted to speaking most Humanoid languages and use this to gain employment in highly populated areas.

#0010 - Eighter

As I was messing about making this meaty spider monster, I had an idea: what if instead giving this monsters eight eyes (like a normal spider would have), I just had one cyclopian eye that was a #8 Billiard ball? So...I did.

So, much like with the Nissacom (#0008), spider creatures share a suffix (-ter) to denote that they share a common phylogeny among other arachnids.

Bestiary Description:
Hulking around on four massive legs (each tipped with a venomous stinger), these monstrous arachnids are a nightmare to anyone, not just arachnophobes. Even while possessing just a single eye, the Eighter bears no fear of being blinded as the orb in it's socket is as hard as ivory. Unlike other spider that bind their prey in order to suck out their fluids, the Eighter prefers to dine on the flesh itself.
In order to do this, it paralyzes it's prey with it's fast acting venom and proceeds to crush it's prey into a pulp so it may feast on the meaty jelly. Gruesome.

#0009 - Baggi

Just gonna come out and say this: Baggi is my most favorite drawing to date and (so far), none of my future drawings even come close to how far ahead this one is in first place.
There's just something about it. A living satchel with a Jack-O-Lantern face that is filled with fire...just perfect.

It's even got a happy little zipper mouth. What more could you want? What's that? You want three styles of fire? We've got that.

Bestiary Description:
The Baggi stands as a reminder of remembering to ask how far one should take magical experimentation:
You want to make a side-satchel that can hold a dragon's fire without consuming it? A fine idea.
You want to make that satchel sentient? Questionable, but there's no limit on what a magic user can use as a familiar.
You want to make it where that sentient satchel can fly and reproduce? You've gone too far. Kill it with...well, fire.
If only someone took a moment to ask whether or not they should have done this before they did. As it is, we now share a world with flying handbags filled with dragon's fire that can procreate. And their numbers are growing.

#0008 - Nissacom

The first snake creature to grace the drawing count, the Nissacom was inspired by the mythical snake from Japanese folklore, the  Tsuchinoko. Just look at that cute little chunky thing!
Related image

As for it's name, I followed a Pokémon Gen-1 naming technique of another snake creature.

There are quite a few more upcoming creatures that will be the first of that species of creature and their naming will follow a similar style. For example, a different snake-like creature will borrow the suffix "-issacom" to denote it is similar in nature to the Nissacom. Just trying to keep things organized.

Bestiary Description:
Once thought to be only found in the tales of legend, the Nissacom has returned in staggering numbers and cemented a foothold among the other creatures found across these great lands (despite not having feet).
Though small in size, these snake-creatures are not to be trifled with. They house enough venom in a single fang to fell a Rumpeleon (#0090) in a matter of minutes.
Take caution if you stumble upon a den of these vicious serpents, elsewise, you may never live to tell the tale of your escape.
